The decision on the record distribution of $ 650 billion came into force on August 23. SDRs are distributed among countries in proportion to their IMF quota shares. Thus, $275 billion will go to developing countries. Ukraine belongs to them.
According to IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, this distribution of funds is a significant additional stimulus for the world and a unique opportunity to overcome the crisis.
«The distribution of SDRs will provide the global economic system with additional liquidity, replenish foreign exchange reserves and reduce their dependence on more expensive domestic or external borrowing», she said.
Venezuela, Myanmar and Afghanistan will not receive money from the IMF — cooperation with these countries is currently suspended due to the illegitimacy of their regimes.
